Lag Bomer in Israel

The traditional Lag Bomer bonfires will be lighting up the skies of Israel tonight, as young and old celebrate the end of the plague that took the lives of 24,000 of Rabbi Akiva’s students.

The light of the bonfires also reminds us of the light of Torah, specifically that of the mystical text, The Holy Zohar, brought to light by Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai, who’s passing is also remembered on the 33rd Day of the Omer.
