Coverage of Pope Benedict XVI’s Visit to the Auschwitz Death Camp in Poland
Written by Marty Roberts on August 22, 2010 – 8:57 am -He visited as Pope, as a Catholic, and as a German…He had some interesting comments
So did the Polish people…Now they want to be thought of as victims of the Nazis, rather than collaborators with them…Marty is not so sure about that one…
Plus…The moving story of the Auschwitz Women’s Orchestra…It was memorialized in a book…soon it will be an opera…
And…The definitely NOT moving story of “Housewitz”…The disgusting tale of a Dutch video clip…Racism?…Anti-semitism?…Just insensitivity and ignorance?…You be the judge…
Also…A few words on the coming Jewish holiday of Shavuot…
All this and MORE…
Pope Benedict XVI Visits the Auschwitz Death Camp in Poland

His comments were quite interesting…
The Pope also visited Auschwitz as a German, not just as the head of the Catholic Church…
Auschwitz Women’s Orchestra

Gustav Mahler’s niece, Alma Rosé , who was forced to conduct the women’s orchestra in the Auschwitz concentration camp.
The Book

The story of the Auschwitz Women’s orchestra was originally made famous in the book, “Playing for Time”, more than 27 years ago…
Fania Fenelon was the author…
Then, There’s “Housewitz”…

The Dutch video…
Does bad taste have no bounds?
At least the director was punished with 40 hours of labor…
Good thing he didn’t go after Muslim sensitivities, like Theo Van Gogh did, huh?
