What this fire did was give Israel some heroes in the world public eye. For too long, the people who have been Israel’s public face have been too malleable.
But now, the world knows that there are Israelis such as the late Ahuva Tomer who really have baytzim (I intentionally use the present tense because, notwithstanding her tragic death, Ahuva Tomer now lives a new life as one tough Israeli hero).
Ahuva has changed the game. Bibi now needs to show some toughness, else he will lose out to a dead woman.
