The American president is not omnipotent. Another president, another time, any agreements made by a predecessor can be voided or countermanded. Then, there’s the U.S.Congress that sometimes just seems to have a will of it’s own now, doesn’t it?…

History does not speak well for the veracity of U.S. presidential promises…Remember the US/Taiwan defense treaty in 1954, Israel’s retreat from the Sinai with US promises in 1957, President Ford’s Golan Heights promise in 1975, Ronald Reagan’s stipulations about Saudi Arabian F-15s in 1982, Bush’s promise to reward Shamir for Israeli restraint in 1991, Clinton’s promised reward for Israel’s retreat from Southern Lebanon in 2000…and then there’s the story of the US Embassy move from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem…Every one…a promise made…a promise broken, by a U.S. president…

The Israeli Prime Minister would do well to take Obama’s promises with more than a grain of salt…

The Middle East..What You Think is Rarely True

Israel’s Arab neighbors are indifferent to the possibility of a nuclear-armed Iran, right? WRONG!!…And they are ready to help arch-enemy ISRAEL stop the mullahs,,,
The palestinians are united in their desire for a new homeland…of course!!…Wrong again…Listen to the facts and the historical reasons why…
All of the nations of the Middle East (except Israel, of course) are united in their desire to support the palestinians and have them achieve their goal of an independent state…Well, right…except that NONE of them want it to happen!!!…Listen to understand why the Middle East countries would like nothing better that to NEVER see the creation of a palestinian state, Islamist or otherwise (with the possible exception of Syria, who simply could not care less one way or the other)
Finally, everyone would agree that the blockade on Gaza MUST be removed…Gaza MUST be opened up, correct?…Well, yes, everybody, that is, except for the countries in the MIddle East, like Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and, oh yeah, don’t forget the ruling palestinian Fatah Party themselves.

So, if you really want peace, if you really hate war…better be careful about your campaign to open up Gaza…Better be careful about allowing the current delicate balance of power in the Middle East to be upset…In short…Pray for Israel’s strength…

Can the Brits possibly get any more ridiculous in their cow-towing to Islamic Jihadists? They actually apologized for teaching their soldiers how to fight Islamic terrorists hiding in a mosque by, of all things, USING A MOSQUE for training? I mean, how are they supposed to train for this all-too-common mission? Use a mock up of a synagogue? Or, maybe, a supermarket? Come on now, the soldiers have to be prepared for what they will face in real, life-and-death combat situations. Here, in the Middle East, i.e. iraq, Islamic terrorists hide in mosques. They use mosques as command and control centers. They use mosques to store weapons and explosives. They use mosques as covers for underground escape tunnels and bunkers. The soldiers WILL have to face the enemy, sooner or later, in a mosques. they need to be trained properly for that, even if it might offend the religious ultra-sensitivities of a few Muslims…and lose a few Muslim votes for those standing in the soon-to-come British parliamentary elections. The lives of the “good guys” are more important than any of these abstract or political concerns.

Therefore, it would seem to me…no apologies necessary…

UK military apologizes for firing range ‘mosques’

British army says it did not intend to use structures that resemble mosques for training

The British military has apologized for offending a Muslim group by using structures resembling mosques at a target range.

The military says it did not intend for the structures to look like mosques and that the structures were not actually being fired on.

The Bradford Council for Mosques is calling for the immediate removal of the structures at the Bellerby firing range at Catterick Garrison in North Yorkshire, 250 miles (400 kilometers) north of London.

The group’s chief executive, Mohammed Saleem Khan, says it is obvious the structures look like mosques.

Military officials said Thursday they want to meet with the Muslim group to explain that no offense was intended. Officials have not said whether the structures will be removed.

Elsewhere, earlier this week, it was reported that President Barack Obama’s advisers will remove religious terms such as “Islamic extremism” from the central document outlining the US national security strategy and will use the rewritten document to emphasize that the United States does not view Muslim nations through the lens of terror, counterterrorism officials said.

The change is a significant shift in the National Security Strategy, a document that previously outlined the Bush Doctrine of preventative war and currently states: “The struggle against militant Islamic radicalism is the great ideological conflict of the early years of the 21st century.”
