“Moderate” Palestinian Prime Minister Fayyad is Sponsoring a Youth Fencing Tournament…It’s Named In Honor Of Terrorist-Murder Abu Jihad
Written by Marty Roberts on April 14, 2010 – 2:18 pm -One more in our series of terrorist-murderers being honored by the Palestinian Authority, Israel’s alleged “moderate” “peace partners”.
This time, Palestinian Prime Minister Fayyad is naming a fencing tournament for young palestinians after the infamous Abu Jihad, one of the founders of Fatah and former sidekick to terrorist-murderer Yasser Arafat. Jihad’s greatest accomplishment was the planning of the worst terror attack in Israel’s history in which 37 civilians were murdered in a bus hijacking led by Dalal Mughrabi.
Oh, by the way, Mughrabi is the one who just had a town square in Ramallah named for HIM…
Peace now?…I don’t think so…

“The Baladna Club will hold the Shahid (Martyr) Abu Jihad Fencing Championship on [Palestinian] Prisoners’ Day and under the auspices of the Prime Minister [Fayyad]… in the club’s building located in the Shahid (Martyr) Yasser Arafat Center… The girls’ groups are [divided according to] age 13 – 20 and boys’ groups from age 16.”
[Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, April 13, 2010]Honoring terrorists who have killed Israelis by naming sports facilities, tournaments and summer camps for Palestinian youth after the terrorists, is a policy of the Palestinian Authority, and part of its program to turn terrorists into heroes and role models for children. Palestinian Media Watch has documented this PA glorification of terrorists.
For more examples of Fayyad and Abbas honoring terrorists, see below.Abu Jihad, honored through Fayyad’s sponsorship, was one of the founders of Fatah, and ran its terror activities starting in the mid-1960s. Second in command to Yasser Arafat, he headed the military wing of the PLO and served as deputy military commander of Fatah. Abu Jihad planned many major Fatah terror attacks, including the worst in Israel’s history, in which 37 civilians were murdered in a bus hijacking led by Dalal Mughrabi in 1978.
The following are recent examples of PM Fayyad and Chairman Abbas honoring terrorists from PMW’s website:
PM Fayyad honoring terrorists:
On December 26, 2009, Fayyad paid condolence calls to the homes of each of the three terrorists who murdered Israeli Rabbi Meir Avshalom Hai in a drive-by shooting.
On February 14, 2010,Fayyad paid a condolence call to the family of a terrorist who attempted to stab an Israeli soldier.
On March 30, 2010, Fayyad paid a condolence call to the family of Abdallah Daoud, one of the terrorist leaders of the first years of the Palestinian terror war (the “Intifada”).Chairman Abbas honoring terrorists:
On December 27, 2009, Abbas honored the three terrorists who murdered Israeli Rabbi Meir Avshalom Hai in a drive-by shooting, calling them “Shahids [Martyrs] of the Palestinian revolution…”
On December 29, 2009, Abbas honored the terrorist Dalal Mughrabi with a birthday party.
On January 17, 2010, Abbas defended naming a square after the terrorist Dalal Mughrabi.
On March 6, 2010, Abbas promoted imprisoned terrorist Mahmoud Damra to major-general.On March 9, 2010, Abbas’s representative honored the terroristDalal Mughrabi by calling her the “bridge over which we pass on the way to our freedom.”

The Official Palestinian “Moderate” Leadership, Abbas and Fayyad, Continue to Honor Terrorists
Written by Marty Roberts on April 13, 2010 – 3:15 pm -The latest in the on-going sequence of terrorist-murderers being honored by the official ruling body of the palestinians, the Palestinian Authority. The events are officially sanctioned and attended by the supposedly “moderate” leaders of the authority, Prime Minister Salam Fayyad and Chairman Mahmoud Abbas.
The most recent event was a funeral honoring one Abdallah Daoud…most recently known for leading the storming and occupation of the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem, capping off a career of terror against innocent civilians that began with the very earliest, first intifada. Abbas sent his personal emissary to the funeral, who spoke in the Chairman’s name, while Prime Minister Fayyad made a condolence call to the family of the dead terrorist, lavishing praise on the “great martyr (shahid)”.
The list goes on and on…you should have a look at the Palestinina Media Watch article, reprinted below…
Hard to consider these leaders as “moderates”, or “peace partners” for Israel…

while repeatedly honoring terrorists

Contrary to statements by both Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Salam Fayyad and Chairman Mahmoud Abbas supporting a “non-violent resistance,” their actions continue to implicitly support violence and terror. As Palestinian Media Watch has reported, the PA leaders have repeatedly honored terrorists in well-publicized acts of support in recent months. The PA leadership’s most recent show of terror support was last week, when both Abbas and Fayyad honored one of the notorious terrorists of the first years of the Palestinian terror war (the “Intifada”). Abdallah Daoud headed the Palestinian intelligence service in Bethlehem, and was actively involved in the Palestinian terror against Israeli civilians. When Israel entered Bethlehem in 2002 in an attempt to eradicate the Palestinian terror, Abdallah Daoud was one of the most wanted Palestinian terrorists who stormed into the Church of the Nativity. For several weeks, Daoud and his fellow terrorists continued fighting against Israel from inside the church, essentially using the monks and the religious site as their shields.
Israel finally agreed to let the terrorists leave without trial and they were deported to foreign countries and Gaza. Daoud was sent to Cyprus and later Mauritania, where he died last week of natural causes.
Ignoring the crimes and terror that led to Daoud’s deportation, the PA leaders last week chose to honor the terrorist Daoud by giving him an “official” funeral. The official PA daily reported on the funeral with a large picture on its front page.
Abbas sent his personal emissary to the funeral. He spoke in Abbas’s name:
“We must maintain the way of the Shahid (Martyr) Daoud, who always believed in the struggle, in love of the homeland, and in the realization of national unity.” [Al-Quds, March 28, 2010]Palestinian PM Fayyad chose to honor the terrorist publicly and in person by paying a condolence visit to the home of his family. Fayyad “enumerated the Shahid’s (Martyr’s) virtues” and noted his “suffering from the injustice of his expulsion.” The story of his honoring the terrorist was also reported on the front page of the official PA daily.
Other recent examples of Fayyad honoring terrorists:
On December 26, 2009, Fayyad paid condolence calls to the homes of each of the three terrorists who murdered Israeli Rabbi Meir Avshalom Hai in a drive-by shooting.
On February 14, 2010, Fayyad paid a condolence call to the family of a terrorist who attempted to stab an Israeli soldier.Other recent examples of Abbas honoring terrorists:
On December 27, 2009, Abbas honored the three terrorists who murdered Israeli Rabbi Meir Avshalom Hai in a drive-by shooting, calling them “Shahids [Martyrs] of the Palestinian revolution…”
On December 29, 2009, Abbas honored the terrorist Dalal Mughrabi with a birthday party.
On January 17, 2010 Abbas defended naming a square after the terrorist Dalal Mughrabi.
On March 6, 2010 Abbas promoted imprisoned terrorist Mahmoud Damra to major-general.
On March 9, 2010 Abbas’s representative honored the terrorist Dalal Mughrabi by calling her the “bridge over which we pass on the way to our freedom.”The following is the report on Fayyad’s condolences last week on the front page of the official PA daily:
“Prime Minister Dr. Salam Fayyad yesterday expressed his condolences at the Balata refugee camp in Nablus, over the death of the Shahid (Martyr) Abdallah Daoud. The Prime Minister enumerated the Shahid’s virtues and said that his death far from the homeland and suffering from the injustice of his expulsion, bestows upon his Martyrdom a clear national and human character.”
[Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, March 31, 2010]The following is the report on Abbas’s statement read by Mahmoud Al-Aloul, member of the Fatah Central Committee, at the funeral:
“Mahmoud Al-Aloul, member of the Fatah Central Committee, delivered a speech on behalf of President Mahmoud Abbas, during which he recounted the life story of the Shahid (Martyr), who sacrificed his life for his country and for his people. Al-Aloul said that we must maintain the way of the Shahid Daoud, who always believed in the struggle, in love of the homeland, and in the realization of national unity.”
