Written by Marty Roberts on August 19, 2010 – 9:01 am -

Some Interesting Statistics from Israel’s 58th Independence Day

Why are there SO MANY people aged 100+ in Israel?…Something to do with the holiness of the Land?…

And…What blessing do you wish for a Jew that is already 119 years old?…We’ve got a couple of them, too!…

Plus…Other interesting population statistics for Israel, 58 years young…

And…The Israeli arabs celebrate their version of memorial day, AKA, the “Nakba”, or Great Disaster…What can they be thinking?…How ungrateful can a people be?…Why do we tolerate it?…The price of democracy, I guess…
All this and MORE…

Old People – Lots of Them in Israel

Old People in Israel

1,015 people in Israel are over the age of 100…

22 people are over the age of 110…

2 people are 119 years old…

What do we wish them?

NOT “Ad Ma’ah V’Esrim” (You should live to 120 years old)!

Israel’s Population is Eight Times Greater Than It Was at Independence

Israeli Population Growth

On its 58th Independence Day, Israel’s population stands at 7,026,000…

Happy Birthday, Israel, and Keep On Growin’!

Israeli Arab Members of Parliament (Knesset)

Arab Knesset Members

Taking democracy to the limit…

Maybe TOO far?

Would you want officials of your country’s government demonstrating AGAINST the very existence of your country?

Nakba – The Great Tragedy

nakba

That’s what the arab Israeli citizens of our country call Independence Day…

This year, they said that it was worse to the arabs than the Holocaust was to the Jews…

Yeah, right…

Israeli-Palestinian Reciprocity

Written by Marty Roberts on April 19, 2010 – 2:35 pm -

Very interesting, the reciprocity between Israel and the palestinians when it comes to our respective holidays…

Every Muslim or Christian holiday celebrated by the palestinians is honored by Israel making “goodwill gestures”…Ramadan, Feast of the prophet, Christmas, Easter…Israel will always release palestinian prisoners…Israel will ease up on the requirements for granting permits to travel to certain areas, thus, leading to increased security risks to the Jews, Israel will grant expanded access to holy places to Islam and Christianity, and on and on…

The palestinians also have THEIR traditional ways of honoring the Israeli/Jewish holidays. They always increase their attempts to show their respect for Israeli/Jewish celebrations by sending “gifts” to Israel…Gifts like explosive-laden suicide bombers or rifle-toting murderers. It’s ALWAYS the same thing, every holiday, whether it be a palestinian terrorist entering a Jew’s house in Samaria and murdering his family in honor of the Jewish Sabbath, or a team of palestinian murderers storming a Passover Seder Feast in a hotel in Netanya shooting and exploding the participants, or a lone palestinian terrorist murdering little Jewish children dresssed in their Purim costumes in Tel Aviv…

So THAT is why, every Jewish holiday, every Israeli celebration, like today and tomorrow, Israeli Memorial and Independence Days, Israel must seal off her borders from entering palestinians and triple and quadruple security in all public places…

Happy Israeli Independence Day…

Israel seals West Bank as security precaution

Israel has barred the entry of nearly all Palestinians from the West Bank as a security measure because of observances for Memorial Day and Independence Day.

Reprinted from Associated Press/Google News

The closure is to be lifted at midnight Tuesday.

Israel is always on a heightened state of precaution during national observances. Memorial Day begins on Sunday night and is followed by Independence Day, which begins Monday night and lasts through Tuesday.

The military says Palestinians in need of medical attention will be permitted to enter for care. A small number of media crews and professional groups such as lawyers and religious workers will be allowed to cross over. Humanitarian aid will also be allowed to pass.

Yom HaAtzmaut 2006…Israel Independence Day…Happy 58th Birthday, Israel

Written by Marty Roberts on May 3, 2006 – 3:12 pm -

In today’s show, I describe the festivities currently taking place in Israel, where we are currently celebrating 58 years of independence

The celebration has powerful religious AND secular components, all of which are extremely important for the Jewish people.

This year’s events carry even greater meaning, given the current political situation in Israel, a government standing solid on its intentions to surrender further parts of the Land of Israel and ready to expel 10′s of thousands of Jews from their homes here. The shadow of last Fall’s expulsions and surrenders is still cast over a strongly divided nation.

Enjoy the show!

Yom HaAtzmaut 2006…Israel Independence Day…Happy 58th Birthday, Israel

The festivities are in full swing here, in Israel…Marty shares his experience of the Israel Independence Day/Yom Ha Atzmaut holiday from right where it is happening today…from the more mundane musical revues, pop concerts, fireworks and barbecues…to the joyful singing and prayers of thanksgiving taking place in synagogues everywhere in the Jewish State…

This year, marking 58 years of independence has particular significance to Israelis, given the tragedies of surrender and the exile of Jews in the past months…With the recent election results and the prospect of further disaster loomng on the horizon…all the more reason for prayer and thanksgiving on this wonderful day of celebration for the Jewish Nation…

Plus…What are the rabbis saying about this year’s celebration?…
All this and MORE…

Yom HaAtzmaut…

58 years since the establishment of the Modern State of Israel…

We have an awful lot to be thankful for…

Miracles on a daily basis, the biggest of which is the existence of Israel at all…

We thank our Creator for the opportunity to be here to experience the wonder and joy of the Jewish State of Israel

What better way to celebrate Israel Independence Day than with fireworks and barbecues?

Believing Jews add one more aspect to our celebration of Yom HaAtzmaut…

Prayer and thanks to G-d for our Homeland…

We don’t forget how lucky we are to have our own Jewish State…

But we still love the fireworks and the grilled meat!

It’s been a rough year…
We’ve witnessed the surrender of parts of our Land and the expulsion of Jews from their homes…

The worst may be yet to come…

We hope and pray that it will only get better, but nowhere is it promised that the path will be easy…that there will not be setbacks and disappointments…

Jews around the world are joining in the celebrations of Israel Independence Day…
But nothing can compare to the joy of experiencing the festivities right here, in Eretz Yisrael…

What are you waiting for?
