The Roadmap to Peace:Ariel Sharon’s Red Lines
Written by Marty Roberts on August 26, 2010 – 8:43 am -Ariel Sharon’s 14 Road-Map “Red Lines”
When the Israeli Cabinet voted in favor of the Road Map in May, 2003, made it contingent upon 14 “comments” that Israel submitted to the Americans. The exact wording of the resolution:
“The Government of Israel… resolves that all of Israel’s comments, as addressed in the [Bush] Administration’s statement, will be implemented in full during the implementation phase of the Road Map.”
Emphasizing the importance of these 14 reservations, the Prime Minister called them:
“red lines beyond which we cannot and will not withdraw.”
Here are the 14 “Red Lines”
You be the judge as to whether or not they have been fulfilled!!!
1) There must be no terrorism during the process. The Palestinians will dismantle the existing security organizations and will form new organizations to combat terror, violence and incitement (incitement must cease immediately and the Palestinian Authority must educate for peace).
In the first phase of the plan and as a condition for progress to the second phase, the Palestinians will complete the dismantling of terrorist organizations (Hamas, Islamic Jihad, the Popular Front, the Democratic Front, Al-Aqsa Brigades and others) and their infrastructure, collect all illegal weapons and transfer them to a third party, cease weapons smuggling and weapons production inside the Palestinian Authority, activate the full prevention apparatus and cease incitement. The security plans to be implemented are the Tenet and Zinni plans. [As in the other mutual frameworks, the Roadmap will not state that Israel must cease violence and incitement against the Palestinians].
2) Full performance will be a condition for progress between phases and for progress within phases. The first condition for progress will be the complete cessation of terror, violence and incitement. Progress between phases will come only following the full implementation of the preceding phase. Attention will be paid not to timelines, but to performance benchmarks (timelines will serve only as reference points).
3) The emergence of a new and different leadership in the Palestinian Authority within the framework of governmental reform; this is a condition for progress to the second phase of the plan. New elections for the Palestinian Legislative Council.
4) The Monitoring mechanism will be under American management.
5) The character of the provisional PA state will be determined through negotiations between the Palestinian Authority and Israel. The provisional state will have provisional borders and certain aspects of sovereignty. It will be fully demilitarized, will have only police and internal security forces of limited scope and armaments, and will not have authority to undertake defense alliances or military cooperation. Israel will control the entry and exit of all persons and cargo, as well as of its air space and electromagnetic spectrum.
6) Declared references must be made to Israel’s right to exist as a Jewish state and to the waiver of any right of return for Palestinian refugees to the State of Israel.
7) The end of the process will lead to the end of all claims, and not only the end of the conflict.
8/ The future settlement will be reached through agreement and direct negotiations between the two parties, in accordance with the vision outlined by President Bush in his 24 June address.
9) There will be no involvement with issues pertaining to the final settlement. Among issues not to be discussed: settlement in Judea, Samaria and Gaza (excluding a settlement freeze and illegal outposts), the status of the Palestinian Authority and its institutions in Jerusalem, and all other matters whose substance relates to the final settlement.
10) The removal of references to UN Resolution 1397, the Saudi Initiative and the Arab Initiative adopted in Beirut. A settlement based upon the Roadmap will be an autonomous settlement that is valid on its own. The only possible reference should be to Resolutions 242 and 338, and then only as an outline for the conduct of future negotiations on a permanent settlement.
11) Promotion of the reform process in the Palestinian Authority: a transitional Palestinian constitution will be composed, a Palestinian legal infrastructure will be constructed and cooperation with Israel in this field will be renewed. In the economic sphere: international efforts to rehabilitate the Palestinian economy will continue. In the financial sphere: the American-Israeli-Palestinian agreement will be implemented in full as a condition for the continued transfer of tax revenues.
12) The deployment of IDF forces along the September 2000 lines will be subject to the absolute quiet noted above, and will be carried out in keeping with the new circumstances and needs.
13) Subject to security conditions, Israel will work to restore Palestinian life to normal: promote an improved economic situation, cultivation of commercial connections, encouragement and assistance for the activities of recognized humanitarian agencies. No reference will be made to the Bertini Report as a binding source document within the framework of the humanitarian issue.
14) Arab states will assist the process through the condemnation of terrorist activity. No link will be established between the Palestinian track and other tracks (Syrian-Lebanese).

Renewed Hopes for Peace in The Middle east…Not!!
Written by Marty Roberts on August 23, 2010 – 9:06 am -It Takes Two to Tango….Is Peace REALLY Breaking Out in the Middle East?
In the midst of all the euphoria surrounding yesterday’s four-way Arab-Israel-Peace-and-love-fest, Marty takes a look at what is REALLY being said over here, in the world’s toughest ‘hood…the Middle East.
…And while no one was paying much attention, the Israeli Knesset Finance Committee slipped by a bill authorizing the Israeli government to forcibly remove some 9000 Jews from their long-time homes in Israel!! Worse still, the law was squeaked through by virtue of one vote, that of an anti-Zionist, Israeli Arab.
This and more, in this 25-minute long, February 9th, 2005 edition of “The Marty Roberts Show”

Confidence-Building Measures: Who needs to Build Confidence in Whom???
Written by Marty Roberts on August 13, 2010 – 10:02 am -Is it the Israelis that need to prove to the palestinians that they are serious for peace, or possibly visa versa?
Israel continues to plunge forward with “gestures” to the new palestinian leadership…gestures that endanger the lives of the citizens of Israel and the Jewish People.
Gestures involving a relaxing of security measures aimed at defending the inhabitants of the Jewish State.

The So-called Palestinians: The “Other” Residents of the Land of Israel
Written by Marty Roberts on August 3, 2010 – 9:20 am -

What is the REAL palestinian problem? Who are these palestinians, anyway? It is very difficult to find true, un-biased news and information about their culture, history and their war against Israel.
First, there is really NO SUCH THING AS A PALESTINIAN PEOPLE! I know that this is hard to believe and to understand. The use of the term and concept has become so widespread, that the myth has taken on the aura of reality.
There has NEVER EVER been a country called “Palestine”, with an Arab people called “Palestinians” living there. “Palestine” was simply the name given to the Land of Israel during the time when there was no State of Israel. People that lived on that piece of real-estate, Israel in Ancient Times, Israel in Modern Times, “Palestine” in-between, were referred to as “Palestinians”. During most of history, most “Palestinians”, or people living on this particular piece of land, were JEWISH!! Obviously, some Arabs also lived there. When the Jews were exiled from their land by the Babylonians and then, the Romans, there were less Jews there. When Jews came back home, there were more Jewish “Palestinians”.

So what-in-the-world are we talking about when we refer to the current arab residents of the Modern State of Israel as “Palestinians”?
There is no agreement as to what “Palestinian” means. Some people use it to refer to Arabs living throughout Israel. Some use it to refer to Arabs living under PLO control. Some think that it’s Arabs living throughout Judea, Samaria, and Gaza. Some use it to refer to Arabs living in Jordan. Some use it to refer to an organ of the PLO. In fact, historically, Palestinians are people that lived on the land that is today the State of Israel, be they Jewish, Arab, or Christian.
And where does anyone come off thinking that they should have some sort of a state on the Land of Israel? They are NOT a true people, and there NEVER WAS such a state!!!
Why now???
There is no such thing as a Palestinian Arab nation. The PLO’s Zahir Mushein admits,
“The Palestinian people does not exist.”
The Arabs who lived here identified themselves as Jordanians or Syrians. There never was an independent Arab state called Palestine. The Palestinians were Jews.
These Arabs living in Israel are from all over the world….wanderers that have ended up living here, former residents from all over the Middle East, and, certainly, some long-time residents of the area.

Arabs have always been welcome to live as law-abiding, voting, fully-privileged citizens of the State of Israel. They still are. Those that choose not to might find a better home in one of the TWENTY THREE surrounding Arab countries.
There is NO MORE PALESTINE!! Now, there is the modern State of Israel. “Palestinians” have become “Israelis”!!
So What’s with the “Green Line”, “West Bank” and “Gaza Strip”?
Prior to the end of World War I, Palestine was part of the Ottoman Empire. The British, under General Allenby, defeated the Turkish forces in 1917 and occupied Palestine and Syria. The land was administered by the British for the remainder of the war.
The United Kingdom was granted control of Palestine by the Peace Conference of Versailles which established the League of Nations in 1919. In 1920, at the Conference of San Remo held at San Remo, Italy, the League of Nations mandate over Palestine was assigned to Britain.
In June 1922 the League of Nations passed the Palestine Mandate. The Palestine Mandate was an explicit document regarding Britain’s responsibilities and powers of administration in Palestine including: “secur[ing] the establishment of the Jewish national home”, and “safeguarding the civil and religious rights of all the inhabitants of Palestine”.
At the time the mandate came into effect (1922), the population of Palestine (west of the Jordan River) consisted of approximately 589,200 Muslims, 83,800 Jews and 71,500 Christians.
The area to the west of the Jordan became the center of Zionist aspirations for a Jewish homeland or state, and gradually saw a large influx of Jewish immigrants escaping persecution in Europe.

This immigration drew immediate and violent opposition from local Arabs.
Under the uncompromising leadership of Haj Amin al-Husseini, the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, the local Arabs rebelled against the British and attacked the growing Jewish population many times during the Mandate. These sporadic attacks began with the so-called “Hurani Riots” of 1921. In 1929, the Jewish community of Hebron was massacred and the survivors were driven out with the loss of 60 lives.
An increase in Jewish immigration following the rise of Adolf Hitler led to the so-called Great Uprising from 1936 to 1939, when Arab general strikes and riots targeted both the British and the Jews now living in the country.
These attacks had three lasting effects: First, they led to the formation and development of Jewish underground militias, primarily the Haganah, which were to prove decisive in 1948. Second, when it became clear that the two communities could not be reconciled, the idea of partition was born.
Third, the British responded to Arab opposition with the “White Paper” of 1939. This severely restricted Jewish immigration, but the advent of World War II meant that even the reduced immigration quota was not reached.
In 1936-1939 the mandate experienced an upsurge in militant Arab nationalism, that became known as the Great Uprising. The Arabs felt they were being marginalized in their own country, but in addition to non-violent strikes they resorted to terrorism, that left hundreds of Jews dead.
Seeing that the situation was quickly spiraling out of hand, the British announced their desire to terminate their mandate and to withdraw by May 1948. This decision threw Palestine into the middle of civil and ethnic unrest.
The United Nations, the successor to the League of Nations, attempted to solve the dispute between the Palestinian Jews and Arabs. UNSCOP called for the creation of independent Arab and Jewish states in Palestine. This option was adopted and the UN General Assembly largely accepted UNSCOP’s proposals. The division was to take effect on the date of British withdrawal.
The partition plan was rejected out of hand by the Palestinian Arabs, although much of the land reserved for the Jewish state had already been acquired by Jews, had a Jewish majority, or was under state control. Most of the Jews accepted the proposal, in particular the Jewish Agency, which was the Jewish state-in-formation.
Right after the UN partition plan was approved, heavy fighting broke out in Palestine.

On May 14, the British Mandate expired. The State of Israel declared itself as an independent nation, and was quickly recognized by the Soviet Union, the United States, and many other countries.
On the date of British withdrawal the Jewish provisional government declared the formation of the State of Israel, and the provisional government said that it would grant full civil rights to all within its borders, whether Arab, Jew, Bedouin or Druze. The declaration stated:
“We appeal … to the Arab inhabitants of the State of Israel to preserve peace and participate in the upbuilding of the State on the basis of full and equal citizenship and due representation in all its provisional and permanent institutions.”
Thus, upon creating the state – any inhabitants inside the newly formed State of Israel, whether Palestinian Jews or Palestinian Arabs, became Israeli.

Over the next few days, approximately 10,000 Lebanese, 60,000 Syrian, 4,500 Iraqi, 50,500 Egyptian, 60,000-90,000 Transjordanian troops and unknown number of Saudi and Yemenite troops invaded Israel. Together with the few thousand irregular Arab soldiers, they faced an Israeli Zionist army numbering 30,000-35,000.
In 1949, Israel signed separate cease-fire agreements with Egypt on February 24, Lebanon on March 23, Transjordan on April 3, and Syria on July 20. Israel was able to draw its own borders. These borders have been known since as the “Green Line”. The Gaza Strip and West Bank of the Jordan River were occupied by Egypt and Transjordan respectively.
In 1967, Israel triumphed in another war against her Arab enemies, after years of on-going military attacks and terrorism against her citizens. As a result of this war, Jerusalem, formerly divided after the War of Independence was re-united under full Israeli control, and the Gaza Strip and West Bank of the Jordan River were re-captured from Egypt and Jordan.
Subsequently, Egypt renounced all claims to the Gaza Strip and Jordan did so as well regarding the land west of the Jordan River, all land that was formerly a part of the Biblical Kingdom of Israel.
And so we stand today, with the Modern State of Israel, as created by the United Nations, STILL not accepted by the vast majority of the surrounding Arab countries, and with a group of radical, revolutionary terrorists claiming peoplehood, while demanding to be given a large piece of Israel’s land for another, new Arab country in the Middle East.
And most of the world supports them…….

Shimon Peres and his irrational, rose-colored glasses view of the Middle East

Could THIS be the Fate of Jewish Communities in Israel???

If Abu Mazzen is doing such a great job, why are the terrorist attacks increasing geometrically??? And WHY, OH WHY is the Israeli Army being prevented from responding to these attacks???
Messengers of Peace???

With the range, accuracy and penetration of the Kassam rockets increasing on a daily basis, why isn’t Israel doing something to stop this???
Is the answer to build stronger roofs on the houses, or to destroy the enemy???
Is it better to treat a disease by hiding the potential patients in isolation, or killing the virus that wants to attack???
It Takes “Two to Tango” for Peace!!!

If this is a new era of peace with the palestinians, where are the initiatives, the reaching out in peace to the Israelis BY the palestinians??? Why is it only the Jews that reach out in peace???
Clean Your Oven for Pesach with Dynamite, Anybody???

What will be the NEXT place for Israel’s Arab enemies to hide explosives or weapons??? First panties, now ovens, not to mention the routine use of ambulances…what’s next, baby incubators???
Yet ANOTHER Exile on the Ninth of Av???

Maybe the time period of the Ninth of Av IS the most appropriate time for the Jews to be exiled again (G-d forbid!!!), but is it really possible that this time it will be the Jews themselves that are exiling their brethren???

From Syria openly allying with Iran to wanted terrorists donning police uniforms, current events here, in the Middle East, can only be described as “surreal”!
How else can you explain the hiring, by the Palestinian Authority, of fugitive terrorists to work as uniformed, armed policemen. And, of course, who is pay rolling the salaries? The United States and the European Union!! And NO ONE is even blinking an eye!!! (except me, maybe)

Also…high-level meetings and statements of unity in Tehran. Syria and Iran are forming a new strategic alliance of mutual defense against, who else? The United States and Israel!!!
Marty Roberts attempts to make SOME sense out of these and other Middle East oddities in this 25 minute edition of “The Marty Roberts Show”.

Where do disgruntled hospital patients make their complaints known by opening fire in the ward???
Good Samaritans, Palestinian-Style, at Accident Scene

Who applauds the stoning of automobile accident victims, while attacking the rescue crew on the scene to administer first-aid???

In what neighborhood is it acceptable, if not LAUDABLE (in fact, ignored by hundreds of bystanders) to murder and publicly mutilate the body of a 22-year old girl for walking down the street with her fiance, chaperoned by her young sister???
Hint:These cases DO NOT represent acceptable norms in either Israel, America or any other civilized Western country. They ARE, however, daily occurrences in the palestinian-controlled areas of the Middle East, and, in fact, are quite useful in getting the support and votes of the people in local elections.

THIS is what we can expect more of if Hamas comes into power (all indications say that they WILL come into power!!!) in the planned July elections for the Palestinian Authority

Israeli President Shimon Peres..”Would Gaza leaders denounce terror, stop building tunnels, shooting missiles, release Gilad Shalit, there would be no need for any sort of closure or blockade”
Written by Marty Roberts on June 20, 2010 – 4:10 pm -It isn’t very often that you will find yours truly supporting the work of Israeli President Shimon Peres, but when he is right on, he is “right on”…
No public figure in Israel represents the desire for peace with the palestinians more than Shimon Peres. He is the architect of the awefull “peace” agreements, like Oslo, and has supported the incessant retreat of Israel before her foes, as well as abandonment of flourishing Jewish communities…all in the interest of his pursuit for peace with the palestinians, his “New Middle East”, which has turned out to be just lots more of the same “Old”, hateful Middle East…
Even Peres supports Israel’s legal naval blockade of Gaza and offers the simple formula for its removal…
“Would Gaza leaders denounce terror, stop building tunnels, shooting missiles, release Gilad Shalit, there would be no need for any sort of closure or blockade”
Well said, President Peres…
‘No need for flotillas if Gaza turns to peace’
‘No need for flotillas if Gaza turns to peace’
President Peres tells Jewish Agency assembly, ‘Would Gaza leaders denounce terror, stop building tunnels, shooting missiles, release Gilad Shalit, there would be no need for any sort of closure or blockade’
Reprinted from YNetnews.com Ronen Medzini
President Shimon Peres on Sunday urged Hamas to abandon the path of terror and said that if it were to do so, there would be no need for a blockade on the Gaza Strip.
“If Gaza would turn to peace, she would have peace and there would be no need for flotillas,” the president said at the start of the annual Jewish Agency assembly in Jerusalem.
“We withdrew from Gaza entirely and no Israeli was left in the Gaza Strip,” he said.
“We did not understand then, nor do we understand now, why after evacuating Gaza, the rulers of Gaza started to fire thousands of missiles against civilian life in Israel. For what reason? For what purpose?” the president wondered.
“The question remains unanswered today,” he continued, “Would Gaza agree to peace, to negotiations instead? Would Gaza leaders denounce terror, stop the building of tunnels and shooting missiles, stop attempting to kidnap Israeli soldiers and release Gilad Shalit who was abducted on Israeli territory, there would be no need for any sort of closure or blockade.”
Peres said attempts have been made recently to de-legitimize Israel. ” De-legitimizing Israel means to legitimize, directly or indirectly, the lawless organization like al-Qaeda, Hamas and Hezbollah and their overt and covert supporters, dictatorial regimes who kill and arrest their own people without count, without human respect.”
Peres added, “Maybe some of us feel lonely, more than ever… But the truth is that we are not alone. I believe that President Obama says and means that Israel’s security is America’s top priority.
“I believe that Europe with its own experience and in its wisdom will turn to the people of Gaza and the West Bank and tell them that peace depends on them negotiating and is better than shooting.”
‘Use more leverage against Hamas’
Welfare and Social Services Minister Isaac Herzog, ahead of the weekly cabinet meeting, also commented on the flotillas planning to sail to the Strip. “The flotillas approaching Gaza should be directed to Ashdod and explain to the world that Israel has changed its policy on the entrance of civilian goods to the Strip and there is therefore no need for these flotillas,” he said.
“The decision by European Union foreign minister gave Israel grounds for its stance and recognized the security interest of preventing smugglings,” he added.
Herzog further claimed that the time has come “to apply additional leverage against Hamas,” and called for harsher treatment of Hamas prisoners. He said the matter of Gilad Shalit warrants harsher terms for the organization’s criminals.
“Israel is an enlightened country with the law as its guiding principle. There are enough things that can be done and I am saying this as someone who comes from the peace camp.”
Tourism Minister Stas Misezhnikov addressed the flotilla issue with a firmer tone, “It doesn’t matter if they are women, men or pets. These are enemy states and they should be treated as a real threat.”
He said, “We must not allow these flotillas to reach Gaza, both in light of the siege and in light of the timing. We stopped the previous flotillas, and we must not allow this one to come. Furthermore, there is a flotilla coming from Iran, and, contrary to Turkey, where they were ‘peace activists’, this is an enemy state. Even the ship from Lebanon, certainly belongs to Hezbollah. We will use all force necessary with the smallest number of casualties.”

In the Middle East, Things Are RARELY What They Seem to Be
Written by Marty Roberts on June 15, 2010 – 1:25 pm -Podcast: Play in new window | Download
Lovers of Peace…Be Careful What You Wish For!!…
New Show/Podcast!!!
Israel’s Arab neighbors are indifferent to the possibility of a nuclear-armed Iran, right? WRONG!!…And they are ready to help arch-enemy ISRAEL stop the mullahs,,,
The palestinians are united in their desire for a new homeland…of course!!…Wrong again…Listen to the facts and the historical reasons why…
All of the nations of the Middle East (except Israel, of course) are united in their desire to support the palestinians and have them achieve their goal of an independent state…Well, right…except that NONE of them want it to happen!!!…Listen to understand why the Middle East countries would like nothing better that to NEVER see the creation of a palestinian state, Islamist or otherwise (with the possible exception of Syria, who simply could not care less one way or the other)
Finally, everyone would agree that the blockade on Gaza MUST be removed…Gaza MUST be opened up, correct?…Well, yes, everybody, that is, except for the countries in the MIddle East, like Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and, oh yeah, don’t forget the ruling palestinian Fatah Party themselves.
So, if you really want peace, if you really hate war…better be careful about your campaign to open up Gaza…Better be careful about allowing the current delicate balance of power in the Middle East to be upset…In short…Pray for Israel’s strength…
All this and more on “The Marty Roberts Show”…

The Palestinians Finally Agree to Come to the Peace Table With Israel..All It Took Was the US Promising Them All They Want in Advance of the Talks
Written by Marty Roberts on May 2, 2010 – 8:57 am -It took the U.S making promises to the palestinians about the outcome of the so-called “negotiations” with Israel to get them to agree to negotiate. What is the purpose of negotiating if the outcome is pre-determined? Obviously, the U.S. is powerful enough to impose it’s own will on the negotiating parties, so if they promise one side in advance that they will receive what they want, even before talks start, what is the purpose of talking?
Of course, now that Israel knows that the outcome of the “peace talks” are a foregone conclusion as far as the U.S. and the palestinians are concerned, Israel would have to be insane to bother to go through the motions of negotiating issues which have already been decided in advance…but if Israel takes THAT stance, she will be universally condemned as the obstacle to peace in the Middle East and labeled by the world as the ultimate cause of the destruction of the entire universe…
Talk about a no-win situation for Israel…
I would NOT want to be in Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu’s shoes…Although, given that his son just won third place in the Israel National Bible contest, papa Bibi PROBABLY knows that the Bible repeatedly assures Israel of G-d’s protection…even when the Americans join the anti-Israel gang-bang…
Time for some strength, bolstered by faith, Mr. Prime Minister…
Letter spells out US assurances
The Obama administration’s private assurances encouraging the Palestinians to join indirect negotiations with Israel came in writing, Ma’an has learned

In a letter delivered by Mideast envoy George Mitchell, Obama informed President Abbas of the US stance on the peace process – including its rejection of Israel’s settlement enterprise.A top PLO official confirmed the letter’s existence a day after The Guardian of Britain reported that the Americans had presented an offer to allow the UN to condemn any significant Israeli settlement activity. The US has historically used its veto to thwart international resolutions concerning Israel’s conduct.
Chief PLO negotiator Saeb Erekat refused to disclose details of the letter, but said that the message “clarified the US stance on the peace process and Israel’s intransigence on the issue of settlements.”
Erekat added that it was “too early to discuss the issue in detail,” before the Arab League meeting on Saturday in Cairo as well as PLO talks scheduled for Ramallah next week, “when we’ll make a decision.”
US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said the peace process should get back on track next week.
“Ultimately, we want to see the parties in direct negotiations and working out all the difficult issues that they must,” Clinton told reporters in Washington after meeting with Kuwait’s foreign minister on Friday.
“The Middle East will never realize its full potential, Israel will never be truly secure, the Palestinians will never have their legitimate aspiration for a state unless we create the circumstances in which positive negotiations can occur,” Clinton was quoted as saying by The Associated Press.
