The U.S. Attempts to Prevent Another Nail in the Coffin of Peace Negotiations Between Israel and the Palestinians

Written by Marty Roberts on February 20, 2011 – 12:36 pm -

Thank you, America for taking the correct decision at the United Nations Security Council…

I am talking about the palestinian-sponsored resolution passed in the UN Security Council, but vetoed by the United States calling for a condemnation of Israeli home-building…one more action that will only harden the palestinian negotiating positions and bring any progress towards a peace agreement with Israel to a screeching halt, as indeed it did. Shortly thereafter, the palestinian leadership announced that there will be no more negotiations until Israel stops building…as if there were any talks talking place anyway… (the palestinians have refused all Israel requests to come to the negotiating table)

veto

Prime Ministers response to the U.S. veto at the Security Council

Israel deeply appreciates the decision by President Obama to veto the
Security Council Resolution today.

Reprinted from IMRA

Israel remains committed to pursuing comprehensive peace with all our
neighbors, including the Palestinians.

We seek a solution that will reconcile the Palestinians’ legitimate
aspirations for statehood with Israel’s need for security and recognition.

Today’s decision by the U.S. makes it clear that the only path to such a
peace will come through direct negotiations and not through the decisions of
international bodies.

We are prepared to pursue those peace negotiations vigorously and are eager
to get on with the work of achieving a secure peace. We hope the
Palestinians will join us in that effort as soon as possible.

It Should Now Be Clear to EVERYONE…There Cannot be Peace Between Israel and The Palestinians at This Time

If they even refuse to recognize Israel as Jewish State…What more is there to talk about?…

New Show/Podcast!!!

If the palestinians cannot even grant Israel this most basic of “concessions” in return for an extension of the ill-conceived Israeli settlement building freeze, what hope is there for meaningful negotiations and agreement on significant issues? Can anyone possible conceive of a peace agreement creating a palestinian state that refuses to recognize Israel as a Jewish State?…I think not…

The (Marty Roberts) Show Must Go On

Written by Marty Roberts on September 12, 2010 – 10:20 am -

But serious Peace needs to be more than just special effects and cinematic illusions

All this and MORE…

policeman

The illusion of peace between Israelis and palestinians continues, with the help of the government and the media, as the truth is withheld from the People of Israel and the World.

police car chase
The media blitz continues….the illusion that the Israeli-palestinian conflict has entered a new era…an era of peace, love and tranquility. Even the Israel Police are involved in keeping the truth from the “masses”!!!

Sylvan Shalom-Israel’s
Globe-Trotting Foreign Minister

sylvan shalom

Marty documents the on-going, ceaseless attempts at terror, as Israeli Security Forces continue to capture terrorists on their way to death and destruction — even more quickly than Israel can release their brethren from prison…

Also, as the names of a record-high number of nominees for the Nobel Peace Prize have been released, it becomes even more apparent what a joke the whole thing is!!! Bono (of U-2 fame) in line for the honor??? Then again, considering past winners, such as Yasser Arafat, maybe the current crop of potential Nobel-laureates is NOT so surprising…..

Jeremiah…Jewish Prophet

failed peace

As Israeli and palestinian leaders are forced together in Washington under the false premise of “peace talks”, Hamas and the palestinians continue THEIR peace process in Israel…So far…four innocent civilians and one unborn fetus dead, two injured, in separate shooting attacks on Israel’s roads…

palestinian terror

Marty Roberts explains why the hopes for peace are a sham, at least for now, as the hatred, incitement and murder continues from the palestinian side…And the surveys show that the palestinian people continue to support killing of Jews…

palestinian terror atack

Also…The “moderate” Palestinian Authority continues to honor terrorists and broadcast pure hatred and incitement to murder Jews on official State-sponsored TV…

Plus…The grandson of one of the victims of Mahmoud Abbas’ palestinian massacre of the Israeli Team at the Munich Olympics in 1972 is beaten in an anti-semitic attack in Germany…

The Roadmap to Peace:Ariel Sharon’s Red Lines

Written by Marty Roberts on August 26, 2010 – 8:43 am -

Ariel Sharon’s 14 Road-Map “Red Lines”

Road Map

When the Israeli Cabinet voted in favor of the Road Map in May, 2003, made it contingent upon 14 “comments” that Israel submitted to the Americans. The exact wording of the resolution:

“The Government of Israel… resolves that all of Israel’s comments, as addressed in the [Bush] Administration’s statement, will be implemented in full during the implementation phase of the Road Map.”

Emphasizing the importance of these 14 reservations, the Prime Minister called them:

“red lines beyond which we cannot and will not withdraw.”

Here are the 14 “Red Lines”

You be the judge as to whether or not they have been fulfilled!!!

1) There must be no terrorism during the process. The Palestinians will dismantle the existing security organizations and will form new organizations to combat terror, violence and incitement (incitement must cease immediately and the Palestinian Authority must educate for peace).

In the first phase of the plan and as a condition for progress to the second phase, the Palestinians will complete the dismantling of terrorist organizations (Hamas, Islamic Jihad, the Popular Front, the Democratic Front, Al-Aqsa Brigades and others) and their infrastructure, collect all illegal weapons and transfer them to a third party, cease weapons smuggling and weapons production inside the Palestinian Authority, activate the full prevention apparatus and cease incitement. The security plans to be implemented are the Tenet and Zinni plans. [As in the other mutual frameworks, the Roadmap will not state that Israel must cease violence and incitement against the Palestinians].

2) Full performance will be a condition for progress between phases and for progress within phases. The first condition for progress will be the complete cessation of terror, violence and incitement. Progress between phases will come only following the full implementation of the preceding phase. Attention will be paid not to timelines, but to performance benchmarks (timelines will serve only as reference points).

3) The emergence of a new and different leadership in the Palestinian Authority within the framework of governmental reform; this is a condition for progress to the second phase of the plan. New elections for the Palestinian Legislative Council.

4) The Monitoring mechanism will be under American management.

5) The character of the provisional PA state will be determined through negotiations between the Palestinian Authority and Israel. The provisional state will have provisional borders and certain aspects of sovereignty. It will be fully demilitarized, will have only police and internal security forces of limited scope and armaments, and will not have authority to undertake defense alliances or military cooperation. Israel will control the entry and exit of all persons and cargo, as well as of its air space and electromagnetic spectrum.

6) Declared references must be made to Israel’s right to exist as a Jewish state and to the waiver of any right of return for Palestinian refugees to the State of Israel.

7) The end of the process will lead to the end of all claims, and not only the end of the conflict.

8/ The future settlement will be reached through agreement and direct negotiations between the two parties, in accordance with the vision outlined by President Bush in his 24 June address.

9) There will be no involvement with issues pertaining to the final settlement. Among issues not to be discussed: settlement in Judea, Samaria and Gaza (excluding a settlement freeze and illegal outposts), the status of the Palestinian Authority and its institutions in Jerusalem, and all other matters whose substance relates to the final settlement.

10) The removal of references to UN Resolution 1397, the Saudi Initiative and the Arab Initiative adopted in Beirut. A settlement based upon the Roadmap will be an autonomous settlement that is valid on its own. The only possible reference should be to Resolutions 242 and 338, and then only as an outline for the conduct of future negotiations on a permanent settlement.

11) Promotion of the reform process in the Palestinian Authority: a transitional Palestinian constitution will be composed, a Palestinian legal infrastructure will be constructed and cooperation with Israel in this field will be renewed. In the economic sphere: international efforts to rehabilitate the Palestinian economy will continue. In the financial sphere: the American-Israeli-Palestinian agreement will be implemented in full as a condition for the continued transfer of tax revenues.

12) The deployment of IDF forces along the September 2000 lines will be subject to the absolute quiet noted above, and will be carried out in keeping with the new circumstances and needs.

13) Subject to security conditions, Israel will work to restore Palestinian life to normal: promote an improved economic situation, cultivation of commercial connections, encouragement and assistance for the activities of recognized humanitarian agencies. No reference will be made to the Bertini Report as a binding source document within the framework of the humanitarian issue.

14) Arab states will assist the process through the condemnation of terrorist activity. No link will be established between the Palestinian track and other tracks (Syrian-Lebanese).

Renewed Hopes for Peace in The Middle east…Not!!

Written by Marty Roberts on August 23, 2010 – 9:06 am -

It Takes Two to Tango….Is Peace REALLY Breaking Out in the Middle East?

failed peace

Even America Cannot Force Peace Without Two Partners

In the midst of all the euphoria surrounding yesterday’s four-way Arab-Israel-Peace-and-love-fest, Marty takes a look at what is REALLY being said over here, in the world’s toughest ‘hood…the Middle East.

…And while no one was paying much attention, the Israeli Knesset Finance Committee slipped by a bill authorizing the Israeli government to forcibly remove some 9000 Jews from their long-time homes in Israel!! Worse still, the law was squeaked through by virtue of one vote, that of an anti-Zionist, Israeli Arab.

In the Middle East, Things Are RARELY What They Seem to Be

Written by Marty Roberts on June 15, 2010 – 1:25 pm -

Lovers of Peace…Be Careful What You Wish For!!…

New Show/Podcast!!!

middle east region

The Middle East..What You Think is Rarely True

Israel’s Arab neighbors are indifferent to the possibility of a nuclear-armed Iran, right? WRONG!!…And they are ready to help arch-enemy ISRAEL stop the mullahs,,,
The palestinians are united in their desire for a new homeland…of course!!…Wrong again…Listen to the facts and the historical reasons why…
All of the nations of the Middle East (except Israel, of course) are united in their desire to support the palestinians and have them achieve their goal of an independent state…Well, right…except that NONE of them want it to happen!!!…Listen to understand why the Middle East countries would like nothing better that to NEVER see the creation of a palestinian state, Islamist or otherwise (with the possible exception of Syria, who simply could not care less one way or the other)
Finally, everyone would agree that the blockade on Gaza MUST be removed…Gaza MUST be opened up, correct?…Well, yes, everybody, that is, except for the countries in the MIddle East, like Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and, oh yeah, don’t forget the ruling palestinian Fatah Party themselves.

So, if you really want peace, if you really hate war…better be careful about your campaign to open up Gaza…Better be careful about allowing the current delicate balance of power in the Middle East to be upset…In short…Pray for Israel’s strength…

Israeli-Palestinian Indirect Peace Talks Are Due to Start…A Show About Nothing

Written by Marty Roberts on May 5, 2010 – 5:02 pm -

Mahmoud Abbas

Mahmoud Abbas..Not Really Negotiating

Everyone is all excited that the Israelis and palestinians are returning to the negotiating table, albeit, for “indirect” peace talks…

But as I listen to all the reports today, I see that the palestinians are not really returning to talks at all, nor are they planning on negotiating anything.

It turns out that the palestinians have agree to return to indirect talks to decide whether or not they will return to indirect talks!…They have not yet officially agreed even to this…And THAT is only on the condition that the Americans give them guarantees in advance that the rigid, unrealistic position of the Arab League vs. Israel will be adopted before any talking even starts…And that is only if the Israels agree in advance to stop building homes for their citizens anywhere that the palestinians decide that they should not build, including all of Jerusalem, the Capital City of Israel…

And it seems that, indeed, the Americans ARE giving those guarantees in advance! Apparently, this is what serves US President Obama’s agenda, and the heck with Israel…

How stupid…how dangerous…what a waste of Israel’s time and energy…

Abbas Calls Israel ‘Extremist;’ Netanyahu to Meet Mitchell

Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas said Wednesday that the Israeli government is “extremist” and must halt all building for Jews on land claimed by the PA before it agrees to American-mediated talks. Asked if he would sit down to talk if Israel continues to build Jewish homes on land claimed by the PA, Abbas said, “Certainly not. This is our land.”

Reprinted from Israelnationalnews.com Tzvi Ben Gedlyahu

The harsh words, stated in an interview with CNN a day after consultations with Saudi Arabia, came hours before Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu is to meet with U.S. Middle East envoy George Mitchell in what so far are one-sided talks.

If the PA officially agrees to turn the discussions into a two-sided affair, the okay will not come before Saturday, when senior PA officials meet. Nevertheless, Mitchell is scheduled to meet with Abbas on Friday, after sitting down with Netanyahu Wednesday afternoon. At the same time, Abbas is in Egypt for consultations following a conference with Saudi Arabia’s King Abdullah in preparation for presenting to Mitchell conditions for a PA state.

The “negotiations” that the Obama administration propose are theoretical because the PA has said the only subject on the table is for Israel to accept the Arab world’s position. The PA probably will not refuse to approve the talks unless it is sure it can place a diplomatic failure on Israel’s shoulders for its refusal to accept its conditions.

Neither Israel nor the PA has wanted to take the blame for failure of the Obama administration’s latest Middle East diplomatic move, but each side has tried to paint the other as being guilty for not agreeing to meet in good faith.

IDF Intelligence officer Brig. Gen. Yosef Baidatz told the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee Tuesday, “Abbas is preparing the ground for the talks to fail. He believes the failure will expose Israel’s true face. He is pessimistic about the outcome and believes the ball is in Israel’s court.”

The mediated talks, if they take place in effect are between Israel and the Arab world, represented by the PA. The issue of a new PA country, including Jerusalem’s holiest sites, is at the center of an Arab strategy to force Israel to surrender all of the land that was occupied by Jordan and Egypt before the Six-Day War in 1967.

Since taking over the PA after the death of Yasser Arafat five years ago, Abbas has leaned heavily on the Arab world and its allies for advice and support. He told the Saudi Arabian newspaper Okaz on Tuesday, “The support of the kingdom to our cause springs from its strong belief that what it is doing for the Palestinian cause is a duty dictated on it by its conscience and its faith.”

Just the Latest Excuse for the Palestinians Not to Talk Peace With Israel…And a Lame One, at Best

Written by Marty Roberts on March 11, 2010 – 5:44 pm -

I told you that they were just looking for another excuse NOT to come to the peace table. After all, why should the palestinians negotiate when the world is ready to give them everything they want on a silver platter, without them having to give up ANYTHING…
So now, they have their newest excuse for not negotiating…Israel is building homes for her citizens in her capital city….BTW, a building plan that was approved THREE YEARS AGO!!!
Biden and Abbas

Amr Moussa: Talks on hold

Abbas reportedly halts indirect negotiations due to Ramat Shlomo plans

Reprinted from Jerusalem Post

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas will not enter indirect peace talks with Israel as planned, Arab League Secretary-General Amr Moussa said overnight Wednesday, due to the approval of plans to build 1,600 housing units in Ramat Shlomo in east Jerusalem.

“The Palestinian president has decided that he does not intend to enter negotiations at this stage,” Moussa said at a press conference in Cairo.

A senior PA official in Ramallah had said Wednesday that the PA would resume talks with Israel in the coming days, despite the threats and strong condemnations coming from Ramallah.

The official’s comments came after visiting US Vice President Joe Biden condemned the plan for the second time in 24 hours, this time standing in Ramallah next to Abbas.

“Yesterday the decision by the Israeli government to advance planning for new housing units in east Jerusalem undermined that very trust, the trust that we need right now in order to begin as well as have profitable negotiations. That is why I immediately condemned the action,” Biden said after meeting Abbas.

With American Nudging, Israel/Palestinian Peace Talks Are Set to Begin Again

Written by Marty Roberts on March 10, 2010 – 5:04 pm -

What a bunch of phoney-baloney…As former head of Israel’s Mossad Ben-Levy just said on the radio…Obama and the US certainly know that there is not a snowball’s chance in Florida of successful peace talks with the palestinians. They know that the palestinians are not at all serious about making peace with Israel. But Obama has another agenda, which he clearly stated at the beginning of his term. He does NOT want to be perceived as an enemy of Islam and the Moslem countries, which by definition makes friendship with America’s best friend, Israel, problematic. So Obama MUST be seen as furthering the palestinians’ alleged goal of carving a state out of Israel’s territory, which means peace talks, however futile they may be.
I would assume that Israel’s leadership is also well aware of this. At least Netanyahu is…Coalition member Labor Party head and Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak might be another story…
Biden and Fayyad

Biden holds Palestinian talks after condemning Israel

The US vice-president Joe Biden is holding talks with Palestinian leaders, a day after condemning Israel’s announcement of 1,600 new homes for Jewish settlers in east Jerusalem.

Reprinted from ABC News Australia Anne Barker

Israel’s announcement coincided with Mr Biden’s arrival and came days after Palestinians agreed to re-enter indirect peace talks with Israel.

The vice-president condemned the decision, saying it undermined the trust needed on both sides. He displayed his anger by turning up 90 minutes late to a dinner with Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Israel’s own defence ministry also blasted the move, saying it would affect peace negotiations with the Palestinians.

Mr Biden has since held talks with Palestinian leaders in the West Bank, who say Israel’s decision is dangerous because it will hinder negotiations.

Palestinians want East Jerusalem as their capital in a future state.

Negotiations With The Palestinians Have No Meaning

Written by Marty Roberts on February 21, 2010 – 10:44 am -

Once again, the palestinian leadership under Mahmoud Abbas (Abu Mazzen) proves that the negotiaion process with Israel is meaningless. What is the purpose of negotiations if one party will only “negotiate” issues that have bee pre-determined prior to the actual talks? This is what the palestinians insist on…
Stubborn

Abbas considers options on peace talks restart

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas is considering his options on resuming indirect peace talks with Israel after meeting U.S. and European diplomats this week, a senior aide said Friday.

RAMALLAH, West Bank (Reuters)

“We have asked for an official meeting of Arab ministers of the follow-up committee and have told them that our consultations, coordinations and inquiries are still ongoing with the Americans, Europeans, Russians and the United Nations,” chief negotiator Saeb Erekat told Reuters.

Erekat dismissed an Israeli newspaper report Friday that Abbas had told Austrian Foreign Minister Michael Spindelegger at a meeting this week in Ramallah that U.S.-mediated peace talks could resume in the coming days.

The Haaretz report said Spindelegger told Israeli officials he had heard from Abbas of his readiness to resume talks.

“The one who announces the Palestinian position is the Palestinian side, not Haaretz or the Austrian foreign minister,” Erekat said.

An Israeli diplomatic source in Jerusalem said: “There is no official word from the Americans or the Palestinians but there have been all kinds of messages from Western diplomats indicating that talks could restart.”

There was no comment from Vienna.

Abbas has been seeking details from U.S. officials on how a proposal that Washington would host “proximity talks” involving Israeli and Palestinian envoys would work.

Aides say Abbas wants guarantees that any such talks would quickly move to seeking final agreements on the core issues of the conflict — borders, settlements, right of return for Palestinian refugees and Jerusalem — witin specific terms of reference and a set timeline.

Abbas broke off negotiations with the previous Israeli government in December 2008 in protest at its offensive in the Gaza Strip and has refused to hold talks with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu while Israel expands West Bank settlements.

In November, Netanyahu ordered a 10-month building freeze in some settlements on land Israel captured in 1967. The United States and Western powers want Abbas to drop his demand for a total freeze and get back to negotiations.

Proposed US Benchmarks for Israeli-Palestinian Peace are Ridiculous

Written by Marty Roberts on May 7, 2007 – 8:42 am -

This latest travesty of a peace plan calls for more scheduled, concrete Israeli security concessions, while “demanding” reciprocal photo ops and declarations on the palestinian terrorist side..All Israel has to do is provide her sworn enemies with weapons and means for smuggling terrorists in and out of Israeli territory…The terrorists have to “really try hard” and REALLY mean it when they say that they are going to stop killing and maiming Israelis…A close-up look at the realities of the new US proposal…All this and more on “The Marty Roberts Show”…
