Israeli Policemen Shot in Cold Blood…Another Reminder That Israel is in a War With the Palestinians

Israeli Policemen Shot in Cold Blood

These Israeli cops were merely doing their job…on their way to their assigned posts in Hebron on route 60. They were ambushed and shot…Cold-blooded murder…

Israel has no peace partners…We are at war…We MUST win the war…Don’t even start with “Two state solutions”…

All three were evacuated by helicopter to Hadassa hospital in Jerusalem, emergency services said, as the army began scouring the area for the attackers.

A doctor at Hadassa said the most severely wounded officer was in critical condition when he arrived at the hospital after being shot in the stomach. He later died of his wounds.

Army Radio reported that a fourth officer received treatment – possibly for shock.

Gunmen opened fire on the police vehicle as it traveled on road 60, north of Hebron, carrying officers to duty stations in the city.

Initial investigations suggest the shooting was a planned ambush.

“This was definitely a terrorist attack. It was carried out on an ordinary police vehicle and forces are now combing the scene,” said police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld.

Settler anger

Following the shooting, the head of the Civil Administration, the Israeli military authority that governs the West Bank, accused Palestinian Authority leaders of not enough to prevent violence. Brig-Gen. Yoav Mordechai said the attack was a “serious incident” that could not be overlooked.

Settler leaders turned on the government, saying the attack was a result of government moves to lift restrictions on Palestinians in the West Bank.

Michael Ben-Ari, a Knesset member for the right-wing National Union party, said: “The writing was on the wall. Opening roadblocks encourages terror and gives a free hand to terrorists.”

A spokesman for the Yesha Council, which represents the settler movement, said: “Sharing security responsibilities with the Palestinians, as the IDF has done across Judea and Samaria [the West Bank] and in Hebron in particular, cannot bring security and Israel’s soldiers and citizens are paying the price in blood.”

According to B’Tselem, a human rights group, the number of manned checkpoints inside the West Bank, went down from 63 to 44 in the past year. Eighteen of the checkpoints are in Hebron.

Second shooting in weeks

Last month two Israelis were hurt by broken glass when bullets hit their car on a different stretch of the same road.

The Imad Mughniyeh Group of the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades claimed responsibility for that attack.

In March 2009, two policemen were killed when gunmen opened fire on their car on road 90, also in the West Bank.

“Moderate” Palestinian Prime Minister Fayyad is Sponsoring a Youth Fencing Tournament…It’s Named In Honor Of Terrorist-Murder Abu Jihad

Written by Marty Roberts on April 14, 2010 – 2:18 pm -

One more in our series of terrorist-murderers being honored by the Palestinian Authority, Israel’s alleged “moderate” “peace partners”.

This time, Palestinian Prime Minister Fayyad is naming a fencing tournament for young palestinians after the infamous Abu Jihad, one of the founders of Fatah and former sidekick to terrorist-murderer Yasser Arafat. Jihad’s greatest accomplishment was the planning of the worst terror attack in Israel’s history in which 37 civilians were murdered in a bus hijacking led by Dalal Mughrabi.

Oh, by the way, Mughrabi is the one who just had a town square in Ramallah named for HIM…

Peace now?…I don’t think so…

“The Baladna Club will hold the Shahid (Martyr) Abu Jihad Fencing Championship on [Palestinian] Prisoners’ Day and under the auspices of the Prime Minister [Fayyad]… in the club’s building located in the Shahid (Martyr) Yasser Arafat Center… The girls’ groups are [divided according to] age 13 – 20 and boys’ groups from age 16.”
[Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, April 13, 2010]

Honoring terrorists who have killed Israelis by naming sports facilities, tournaments and summer camps for Palestinian youth after the terrorists, is a policy of the Palestinian Authority, and part of its program to turn terrorists into heroes and role models for children. Palestinian Media Watch has documented this PA glorification of terrorists.
For more examples of Fayyad and Abbas honoring terrorists, see below.

Abu Jihad, honored through Fayyad’s sponsorship, was one of the founders of Fatah, and ran its terror activities starting in the mid-1960s. Second in command to Yasser Arafat, he headed the military wing of the PLO and served as deputy military commander of Fatah. Abu Jihad planned many major Fatah terror attacks, including the worst in Israel’s history, in which 37 civilians were murdered in a bus hijacking led by Dalal Mughrabi in 1978.

The following are recent examples of PM Fayyad and Chairman Abbas honoring terrorists from PMW’s website:

PM Fayyad honoring terrorists:
On December 26, 2009, Fayyad paid condolence calls to the homes of each of the three terrorists who murdered Israeli Rabbi Meir Avshalom Hai in a drive-by shooting.
On February 14, 2010,Fayyad paid a condolence call to the family of a terrorist who attempted to stab an Israeli soldier.
On March 30, 2010, Fayyad paid a condolence call to the family of Abdallah Daoud, one of the terrorist leaders of the first years of the Palestinian terror war (the “Intifada”).

Chairman Abbas honoring terrorists:
On December 27, 2009, Abbas honored the three terrorists who murdered Israeli Rabbi Meir Avshalom Hai in a drive-by shooting, calling them “Shahids [Martyrs] of the Palestinian revolution…”
On December 29, 2009, Abbas honored the terrorist Dalal Mughrabi with a birthday party.
On January 17, 2010, Abbas defended naming a square after the terrorist Dalal Mughrabi.
On March 6, 2010, Abbas promoted imprisoned terrorist Mahmoud Damra to major-general.

On March 9, 2010, Abbas’s representative honored the terroristDalal Mughrabi by calling her the “bridge over which we pass on the way to our freedom.”
On March 27, 2010, Abbas honored Abdallah Daoud, one of the terrorist leaders of the first years of the Palestinian terror war (the “Intifada”).

Pension Funds in Both Sweden AND Norway Deem it Unethical to Prevent Terrorist Attacks

Written by Marty Roberts on April 6, 2010 – 3:00 pm -

So Swedish and Norwegian pension funds are just SO moral, SO ethical, that they have decided that they must not taint their hands nor their investment portfolios with investments in a company that builds and installs surveillance systems designed to stop terrorists from killing innocent civilians…REALLY, now!!!…Elbit builds drones and other monitoring gear designed to detect terrorists attempting to cross Israel’s security barrier…an event known to occur pretty much on a daily basis on the border between Israeli and palestinian controlled areas. What is immoral or unethical about PREVENTING terror?
Please feel free to open your humble servant’s eyes on this one…

Elbit

An Elbit Systems technician pilots a Universal Ground Control Station (UGCS) to operate drones

Swedish pension giant shuns Israeli arms maker

The biggest Swedish pension fund said Monday it had barred Israeli arms maker Elbit Systems from its investment portfolios on ethical grounds.

Reprinted from AFP/Google News

Following the lead of Norway’s state oil fund, Foersta AP-Fonden said it had banned investment in Elbit because it had built and was operating a surveillance system for a controversial barrier between Israel and the West Bank.

“The Ethical Council recommended that Elbit Systems Ltd should be excluded from each portfolio because it deems that the company can be linked to violations of fundamental conventions and norms,” it said in a statement.

Israel says the barrier — a network of walls, fences and closed military roads — is designed to prevent attacks. The Palestinians view it as an “apartheid wall” that carves off key parts of their future state.

Israel has so far completed 413 kilometres (256 miles) of the planned 709-kilometre (435-mile) barrier, according to UN figures.

When completed, 85 percent of the wall will have been built inside the West Bank, taking land from villages like Bilin and Nilin.

The international community has condemned Israel’s decision to construct the barrier.

The Swedish fund, which only had small investments in Elbit according to its ethics council chairwoman Annika Andersson, said that Grupo Ferrovial, PetroChina, Thales and Yahoo had successfully addressed its concerns about ethics violations.

Last September, Norway’s state pension fund, one of the world’s biggest investors, also banned Elbit from its portfolio, prompting the Israeli foreign ministry to summon Norway’s ambassador in protest at the move.

British Politicians Are Looking to Gain Votes by Expelling an Israeli Mossad Man From London Over the Dubai Assassination

Written by Marty Roberts on March 23, 2010 – 5:24 pm -

What a cheap shot at vote-getting for the British elections…And what a sorry state of affairs it is that a candidate can garner votes in Great Britain, a Western democracy, by trying to humiliate Israel, another Western democracy and close ally.
The absurdity is heightened when you realize that if, indeed, it WAS Israel that eliminated the arch-terrorist Mahmoud al-Mabhouh in Dubai, it ws probably almost as great a service for the Brits as the Israelis. They have relied upon cooperation with Israeli security agencies in the past in our mutual war on terror, and will continue to need Israeli cooperation in the future. This might be a classic “cut off your nose to spite your face” scenario for Great Britain.
By the way, the Mossad should be receiving an international award if they WERE the ones taking out the terrorist trash in Dubai…but we’ll never know now, will we?

David Miliband

Mr Miliband took the decision after an investigation by British Police

Britain to expel Mossad’s man in London over Dubai assassination

Mossad’s representative at the Israel embassy in London is being expelled over the use of cloned British passports in the killing of a senior Hamas commander in Dubai

Reprinted from Telegraph.co.uk Rosa Prince

A government official, speaking on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to comment ahead of the statement, says Britain will expel one Israeli diplomat. Sources disclosed that the individual is Mossad’s London representative.

Ron Proser, the Israeli Ambassador to London, was summoned to the Foreign Office on Monday to be told the results of an inquiry into the murder of Mahmoud al-Mabhouh, whose body was discovered in a luxury Dubai hotel room on January 20.

Several members of the team suspected of killing him were found to be travelling on passports cloned from documents belonging to British citizens living in Israel. Other passports had been stolen from Irish, German, Australian and French citizens.

A senior Israeli diplomat would be expelled as a mark of the “anger” within the Government that British passport holders had been put at risk as a result of the operation.

Mr Miliband has pulled out of an event at the Israeli Embassy this afternoon, where he was due to be the guest of honour at a “housewarming party” to mark the the opening of its new building in Kensington, central London.

A ministerial statement to be made to Parliament on Tuesday will formally name the Israeli security services as responsible for the cloning of up to 15 British passports, which were copied after being taken away by airport officials.

The statement will say that it proved impossible to confirm definitively whether Mossad, the Israeli secret intelligence service, was responsible for the operation, with suspicion also resting on the Military Intelligence Directorate.

But the probe had determined for certain that the passports were cloned when British citizens passed through airports on their way into Israel, with officials taking them away for “checks” which lasted around 20 minutes.

Foreign Office sources expressed frustration that there was little more that could be done to “punish” Israel over the affair.

A number of those whose passports were stolen had dual British and Israeli nationality.

They include Gabriella Barney, 23, and her father Michael, 54, along with Daniel Marc Schnur, 32, Roy Allan Cannon, 62, Stephen Keith Drake, 54, Mark Daniel Sklar, 30, and Philip Carr, 35.

A number of the innocent passport holders have expressed concern and upset that their identities were used for the assassination of a senior Hamas commander, which was carried out by a team of at least 23 operatives.

Israel has refused to confirm or deny any involvement in the audacious murder, insisting that it has a “policy of ambiguity”.

The suspects, including a number of women, were filmed on security cameras strolling through hotel lobbies disguised as tourists wearing tennis clothes.

They followed al-Mabhouh to his hotel room, where he was found suffocated hours later.

PA to name square for murderer of 37
on anniversary of her attack

Another chapter is unfolding in the ongoing confrontation between Israel and the Palestinian Authority over the naming of a square after the terrorist Dalal Mughrabi. In December, Palestinian Media Watch publicized that the Municipality of Ramallah planned to name a public square in honor of the terrorist Dalal Mughrabi, who led the worst terror attack in Israel’s history when she and other terrorists hijacked a bus and murdered 37 civilians in 1978. Prime Minister Netanyahu immediately protested to the US and sharply criticized the PA for its intention to name the square in Ramallah “after a terrorist who killed dozens of Israelis.”

Reprinted from Palestinian Media Watch
by Itamar Marcus and Nan Jacques Zilberdik

The official PA daily newspaper reports today that the PA has chosen to ignore PM Netanyahu’s criticism and protests to the US. Not only does it still intend to name the square after the terrorist, but the date chosen for the inaugural ceremony is this Thursday, March 11, the 32nd anniversary of the terror attack.

Since PMW’s exposure of the story, PA leaders have repeatedly rejected PM Netanyahu’s criticism while defending the practice of honoring murderers, whom they honor as Martyrs (Shahids). PA chairman Mahmoud Abbas also referred to the terror attack as “military activities.”

See the timeline of the ongoing dispute below.

After PMW’s exposure of the PA’s naming of the square in December, Israeli PM Netanyahu protested and condemned the intention:

“Today, and a week ago, senior officials from the Prime Minister’s office conveyed a protest to the US against Mahmoud Abbas… that the governor of Ramallah named a square in her [Mughrabi's] honor.”
[Israeli News Channel 2, Jan. 7, 2010]
“Whoever sponsors and supports naming a square in Ramallah in honor of a terrorist who murdered dozens of Israelis on the Coastal Road – encourages terror.”
[Galei Zahal, (IDF radio), Jan. 10, 2010]

Today the official PA daily reports that the Municipality is continuing with this Thursday’s inauguration:

Headline: “Preparations for inauguration of Shahida (Martyr) Dalal Mughrabi Square complete”
“The El-Bireh Municipality has completed construction work at the Shahida (Martyr) Dalal Mughrabi Square in the Um Al-Sharait region, and has commenced preparations for its inauguration this Thursday, the anniversary of Mughrabi’s Martyrdom. The mayor, Jamal Al-Tawil, said that… this year the municipality will celebrate the inauguration of the Shahida (Martyr) Dalal Mughrabi Square in order to commemorate her memory and her sacrifice as a Palestinian woman who resisted the occupation. City Council member Aida Abu-Ubeid said that the square is considered a symbol of the sacrifice of the Palestinian woman. She also noted that flowers and trees will be planted there, and that a picture of the Shahida Dalal Mughrabi will be placed at the center of the square.”
[Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, March 7, 2010]

There has been no public comment from the Obama administration about the PA’s honoring of the terrorist.

[Al-Ayyam, Jan. 11, 2010]

Jan. 17: PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas rejects Netanyahu’s protest
“I do not deny [the naming]. Of course we want to name a square after her [Mughrabi]… [We] carried out military activities; can I then later renounce all that we have done? No, I don’t renounce it.”
[Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Jan. 17, 2010]

Feb. 3: Ashraf Ajrami, former PA Minister of Prisoners’ Affairs, defends naming
“[PA] talk about Shahids (Martyrs) is considered, from their [Israel's] point of view, extremism and support for terror… Likewise, naming a square after Dalal Mughrabi is [according to Israel] reason for criticism and attack.”
[Al-Ayyam, Feb. 3, 2010]

Feb. 25: Mahmoud Al-Aloul, General Commissioner for Recruitment and Organization, emphasizes importance of naming
“Mahmoud Al-Aloul, member of the Fatah Central Committee and General Commissioner for Recruitment and Organization, emphasized that it is important to continue commemorating the memory of the Shahids (Martyrs) and the Palestinian acts of heroism, and most importantly the anniversary of the Martyrdom of Dalal Mughrabi, heroine of the Coastal Road operation [terror attack], which falls on March 11th each year.”
[Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Feb. 25, 2010]

Has the UN Reached the End of the Line?

Written by Marty Roberts on February 19, 2010 – 5:19 pm -

Everybody talks about the palestinian refugees. What about a million JEWISH refugees of Arab countries in the Middle East? What about THEIR “right of return”? How about compensation for them? Where is UNWRA now?…

United Nations

Israel vies to bring Mideast Jewish refugees into talks
BY RACHELLE KLIGER / THE MEDIA LINE
18/02/2010 18:40

New bill to seek compensation for eastern Jews and cement their narrative as an integral part of any future peace negotiations.

Israeli lawmakers are seeking a law that will make compensation for Jewish refugees expelled from Arab countries after 1948 an integral part of any future peace negotiations.

Lawmakers put together a bill demanding compensation on behalf of current Jewish Israeli citizens, who were expelled from Arab countries after Israel was established in 1948, leaving behind a significant amount of valuable property.

Originally submitted almost a year ago to the Knesset, the bill passed its first hearing two weeks ago. Now various interest groups are pushing the bill with the Knesset’s 120 members before it is subjected to a second and third hearing next week.

The bill was sponsored by MK Nissim Ze’ev (Shas) and follows a resolution passed in the US House of Representatives in 2008, calling for refugee recognition to be extended to Jews and Christians similar to that extended to Palestinians in the course of Middle East peace talks.

“I think the term ‘compensation’ is too limited a term,” former Canadian Justice Minister Irwin Cotler told The Media Line.

Cotler, a vocal advocate of the campaign, was one of several international representatives at the Knesset conference discussing the bill, organized by MK Nissim Ze’ev on Monday.

“We’re not just speaking about financial compensation or indemnification,” Cotler said. “We’re talking about justice for Jews from Arab countries. This speaks to the question of, among other things, rectifying the justice and peace narrative of the last 62 years where the question of Jews from Arab countries has not been part of the narrative.”

“There have been more than 160 UN resolutions on the matter of refugees,” he continued. “All 160 dealt with Palestinian refugees only. I’m not saying they shouldn’t address Palestinian refugees, but I’m saying there’s no justice and no truth if it does not also address the plight of Jews seeking justice from Arab countries.”

According to the international advocacy group, Justice for Jews from Arab Countries (JJAC), some 850,000 Jews were displaced from Arab countries after the State of Israel was established. These include Jews from Syria, Trans-Jordan, Egypt, Lebanon, Yemen, Iran, Iraq, Algeria, Tunisia and Morocco.

Speaker of the Knesset Rubi Rivlin (Likud Party) said the issue was an important counterweight to Palestinian claims for a right of return to homes from which they were expelled or had to leave in 1948, and which are now part of Israel.

“The Arab peace initiative, based on the Saudi initiative, has a clause that calls for a just solution to the Palestinian refugee issue,” Rivlin said at the conference. “Israel is opposed to the right of return… we have to make an appeal today, to say that there is no room for bringing up the Palestinian right of return without the Jewish refugee issue being resolved. This has to be heard in the political discourse in Israel and in the international community.”

Rep. Eliot Engel (D – NY), who supported the congressional resolution and attended Monday’s conference, said there was hypocrisy in the way the international community dealt with the Palestinian refugee community.

“The Arabs today, as they have done for 50 years, use the Palestinian refugee population as political pawns,” Engel said. “They want them to live in misery. They want them to suffer and then to blame the Jews. The fact of the matter is that the blame lies right at the foot of the Arab states, be it Saudi Arabia or Jordan or Egypt or any of those countries that have lots of petro-dollars and they don’t even spend a shekel to help their refugees.”

Monday’s conference was marked by heated arguments from members of the audience, which included Jews who were expelled from Arab countries in the years following the establishment of the state.
